Bartolomeu Campos de Queirós is the author of some 60 publications of both prose and poetry for children and young people. He has also written playful poetry for little ones, in which he experiments with the form, sonority and semantics of the words. Furthermore, he has published novels aimed at young readers and a range of quite lyrical poems that are rich in dreamlike images.

Campos de Queirós’ literature is quite universal, touching on themes such as life and death, loss, the passing of time, and childhood. The aesthetics of his language deal with complex and philosophic subjects that he manages to portray in his own original manner, featuring elements like colloquial language and metaphors.

A number of his books have been translated into other languages, and some of them have received Brazilian and international awards. In 2008, Campos de Queirós was awarded the IV Iberoamerican SM Prize for his whole work.
