The Chinese Board on Books for Young People (CBBY) is the Chinese Section of IBBY. It was established in 1986 during the 20th IBBY World Congress in Tokyo.
Over 30 professional children's book publishers and over 200 children’s newspapers and magazines as well as many famous Chinese children’s book authors are members of CBBY.
The main activities of CBBY include: Reading promotion activities; book donations to disadvantaged regions of China; seminars on children’s literature and books and reading to children. The section also participates in IBBY activities, the Bologna Children’s Book Fair and in the BIB – Biennial of Illustrations in Bratislava. It also participates in the annual China National Children’s Book Fair.
CBBY hosted the 30th IBBY World Congress in Macau 20-24 September 2006. The Congress Theme was ‘Children’s Literature and Social Development’.
