The Israeli section of IBBY is located in the Levinsky Teachers College of Education in Tel Aviv. Thanks to its location, the section has easy contact to young people and are able to emphasis the importance of reading from a very young age.
Twice a year the section publishes a newsletter containing information about children's literature activities and congresses in Israel and abroad, information about new children's books published in Israel, information about award winners, and so on.
IBBY Israel holds the archive of a very prominent author for children, one of the first authors to write in Hebrew, Levin Kipnis, after whom the center is named. It also holds the archives of other authors, and many students undertake their researches (M.A and Ph.D) on these authors.
Every two years the section awards the Levin Kipnis Prize for a research project about children's literature.
