The latest issue of Nordisk blad, published jointly by the Nordic IBBY sections, is out.
Due to financial crisis it is only published electronically this time and has been put up on the IBBY Iceland website, www.ibby.is. The theme is ghosts and the supernatural in Nordic Childrens literature. All articles are written in one of the Nordic languages but each one is followed by a summary in English. The editor of this issue is Dr. Anna Heida Palsdottir, board member of IBBY Iceland. The illustration on the cover is by Halldor Baldursson, one of Iceland´s best illustrators.

The Swedish section of IBBY was established in 1956 and it was called Internationella Ungdomsboksrådet, IUR (International Youth Book Council). The Swedish Comics Committee, established in 1953 under the auspices of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom, also had the goal of promoting good literature for children and young people. The Comics Committee and IUR joined together in 1967 under the name of Children and Youth Book Council, today IBBY Sweden.
Sweden annually publishes 4 issues of IBBY bladet - Forum för barnboksarbete (IBBY Letter - Forum for Children's Books); annually awards the Gulliver Prize; annually awards the Peter Pan Prize for translation; nominates for the Literature Prize in memory of Astrid Lindgren (ALMA); arranges seminars and participate in exhibitions at the Gothenburg Book Fair.
