
The Swedish section of IBBY was established in 1956. IBBY Sweden is committed to the promotion of Swedish literature for children and young people abroad, as well as to the introduction of foreign literature in Sweden, via the IBBY network.
In addition to submitting nominations for the IBBY international awards and participating in other international IBBY activities, IBBY Sweden:
Awards the annual Gulliver Prize to an individual especially committed to increasing knowledge about literature for children and young people in Sweden
Awards the annual Peter Pan Prize and Silver Stars for books translated into Swedish
Submits nominations for the annual Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award (ALMA)
Organizes seminars and participates in book fairs all over Sweden.
