IBBY National Sections

Indonesian Section of IBBY

We are very pleased to welcome the re-establishment of the Indonesian Section of IBBY – INABBY. The section has been reformed and is now based at the State Islamic University in Jakarta. Board member Murti Bunanta has been very active for many years in IBBY, both internationally and nationally. An author herself, she has been working throughout Indonesia bringing children and books together. She and her colleagues have been working tirelessly in north Sumatra in the Aceh region bringing relief to the victims of the Tsunami disaster, which struck the Indian Ocean in December 2004. IBBY has been able to sponsor the work done in the region through the IBBY-Tsunami Fund. Reports about the work can be found in the activities section of this website: Education Recovery Project

IBBY-Yamada Workshop 2007

In 2007, the Indonesian Board Books for Young People (INABBY) supported by the IBBY-Yamada Fund organized an activity entitled Workshop of Novel Writing for Young Writers.

The workshop was designed to encourage writing that emphasize the themes that relate to global issues, such as gender and discrimination issues, children and young people who are trapped in war, conflict or hostility situations, children and young people who live in asylum, and children and young people who fight against AIDS.
