Commentary
Based on the oral tradition of his Khorogo region (Côte d’Ivoire), the author retells ten stories that are intended for the family circle. Each short anecdote – which is preceded by a proverb – focuses on misbehaviour that one should avoid, such as selfishness, contempt for others’ work, lack of patience, or impulsiveness. These educational lessons are conveyed through well-told, “juicy” plots that reflect the region’s culture.
