Reading tips about children’s and youth literature from around the IBBY world

What are you reading during the summer? We figured that you might like to use some of your free time to read and learn more about children's literature in different parts of the world. Besides IBBY’s quarterly journal, Bookbird: A Journal of International Children's Literature, and the latest publication Bookbird. A Flight through Time, we have put together some reading tips, as many of the IBBY National Sections are editing their own magazines, newsletters and blogs, in English or in their national languages. The IBBY European Newsletter, published twice a year since 2009, is a very rich newsletter featuring news and articles from different IBBY Sections around Europe.

Voces & Tintas (Voices & Ink) is a new bilingual digital magazine available in Spanish and in English. It is an initiative of the sixteen countries that make up IBBY Latin America and the Caribbean.

IBBY Japan (Japanese)

Four times a year, JBBY publishes Book & Bread, a magazine for its members. The name of the magazine, Book & Bread, comes from the words of Cecilia Bettolli of Argentina (Por el Derecho a Leer), winner of the IBBY-Asahi Reading Promotion Award in 2002, who said in her acceptance speech, "Children need books as well as bread”.

IBBY Lithuania (Lithuanian)

Rubinaitis is a magazine about children's books, the only publication of its kind in Lithuania for teachers, librarians, literary researchers, writers, illustrators, publishers, parents and students, as well as anyone interested in children's literature.

Rubinaitis can be purchased at the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania. The price of the magazine is 3 euros

 

 

 

IBBY Norway (Norwegian)

The paper magazine Barnebokforum, usually published three times a year, provides the most comprehensive overview of the current books for children and young people in Norway.
