Summary
This is an intriguing tale of love between Sasha and Tony. Sasha, who is a financially secure and professionally stable doctor, believes that love has to be guided by principles rather than by simple desire. Her relationship with Tony Kimani has moments of both joy and pain. Given their different personalities and backgrounds, the couple has to work hard to overcome these differences. After many obstacles, they manage to get married.
Commentary
The novel is an interesting portrait of a clear-minded woman’s character and her desire for an enduring relationship. Monicah Genya’s salient message is that true love needs principled characters, especially women, in order to withstand social pressures. Love must go beyond the confines of materialism in order to succeed. By employing a limited number of characters, Genya enhances the narration, and her simple language powerfully conveys the vigour of the characters’ actions.
