Bookbird, Inc. and IBBY are delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Justyna Deszcz-Tryhubczak and Dr. Lorraine Kerslake Young as the new Co-Editors of Bookbird: An International Journal of Children’s Literature.
Taking the helm from outgoing editor Dr. Chrysogonus Malilang, this dynamic duo brings a wealth of international experience, academic excellence, and a shared vision for the future of children’s literature scholarship. Their first issue will be Volume 65, Issue 1 (2027).
About the New Editors:
• Dr. Justyna Deszcz-Tryhubczak (University of Wrocław, Poland) is an Associate Professor and expert in radical fantasy fiction and intergenerational solidarity. A former IRSCL board member, she currently coordinates the Erasmus Mundus Master in Children’s Literature, Media, & Cultural Entrepreneurship and leads projects on youth voices and freedom of expression.
• Dr. Lorraine Kerslake Young (University of Alicante, Spain) is a Professor of Literature specializing in ecocriticism, ecofeminism, and posthumanism. A former executive board member of IRSCL and advisory board member of EASLCE, she leads research on women writers and animal studies, bridging literature with environmental and gender studies.
Together, they promise to continue Bookbird’s legacy as a leading global forum for children’s literature research, fostering diverse voices and innovative perspectives.
