Join us Online for the 5th IBBY Ibero-American Seminar: “Inhabiting Words”

We are delighted to invite the children’s literature community to the 5th IBBY Ibero-American Seminar on Children’s and Young Adult Literature, taking place online on June 17–18, 2026.

Organized by IBBY Spain/OEPLI in collaboration with IBBY Latin America and the Caribbean, this seminar, conducted largely in Spanish, aims to strengthen ties between Spanish and Portuguese-speaking nations, celebrating the diverse voices that shape the literature of our children.

Theme: “Inhabiting Words: The Right of Children to Name Their Own World”
Inspired by Astrid Lindgren’s belief in illuminating childhood, this edition focuses on the voices, worlds, emotions, and rights of children to express themselves through poetry, images, and books. The program features eight distinguished speakers from seven countries, exploring critical topics such as oral storytelling, non-fiction, independent publishing, illustration, research, and youth reading mediation.

Featured Speakers Include:

  • Raquel Fernández Cobo (Spain): Researcher on Ibero-American children’s literature cartography.
  • Freddy Gonçalves Da Silva (Venezuela): Reading mediator and creator of the Asahi-nominated PezLinterna project.
