IBBY-Yamada 2008: Nepal

The main objective of this project was to help establish and administer mobile libraries in 12 schools in remote villages in two districts of Nepal.  This task was accomplished by establishing these mobile libraries in community-based schools of the villages.  Local parents, teachers and children were encouraged to participate in the reading programme. The teachers, parents and the students of the villages were made aware of various aspects of reading promotion and management of the mobile library. Teachers, students and parents were trained to run reading programmes and the mobile libraries, and to organize sessions dedicated to storytelling, book reporting etc.
