History
The IBBY Section of Uzbekistan was established in January 2022 within the Agency of Information and Mass Communications under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan
Since March 2026, he has headed the National Section of the Children's Content Development Center, which carries out comprehensive coordination and presentation of national children's content from the organization of ordering and publishing high-quality literary and multimedia works to the implementation of national programs to engage children in reading, promoting books as a tool for intellectual and spiritual growth.
The main goal of the Uzbekistan National Section is to unite creative and public forces in the development and popularization of national literature for children and youth at the republican and international levels.
Main projects
2022
- September 5-8: the delegation of the National Section of Uzbekistan took part in the 38th IBBY World Congress in Putrajaya, Malaysia;
- November 2-4, within the framework of the III Tashkent International Book Fair "Tashkent Book Fest," the National Section of Uzbekistan organized an exhibition stand featuring selected titles from the IBBY 2019 Collection for Young People with Disabilities;
2024
- Uzbek children's author Raim Farhadi was nominated for the 2024 Hans Christian Andersen Award, Uzbekistan's first ever nomination;
- August 30 to September 1: the delegation of the National Section of Uzbekistan took part in the 39th IBBY World Congress in Trieste, Italy;
2025
- March 31 to April 3: the delegation of the National Section of Uzbekistan took part in the 62nd Bologna Children's Book Fair;
- August 30–31, the delegation of the National Section of Uzbekistan took part in the IBBY Asia-Pacific Regional Conference in Suwon, South Korea;
2026
- Uzbek children's author Muhabbat Yuldasheva was nominated for the 2026 Hans Christian Andersen Award;
- "Time of Heroes" Children's Eco-Movement project, founded by Madina Muminova, is nominated for the 2026 IBBY-Asahi Reading Promotion Award;
- Zulfiya Seytniyazova, Director of the Republican Children's Library of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, was nominated for the 2026 IBBY-iRead Outstanding Reading Promoter Award;
- IBBY Uzbekistantakes part in the 2026 IBBY Honour List:, nominating writers Madina Muminova, Qobiljon Shermatov, and illustrator Nargis Karimova
