IBBY-Yamada 2010: Uganda

The importance of book therapy among children.

The workshop was attended by over 30 participants, including librarians, teachers, authors, illustrators, psychologists and parents. The three-day programme comprised papers, discussions as well as practical sessions.  The workshop widened the participants’ outlook to reading and related activities. As a result the reading tent sessions were enriched with more activities to enable children engage in whatever they liked and enjoyed – what met their needs. These include reading both individually and in groups, writing, drawing, craftwork, moulding, discussion and debates, and playing different games.
