Bookbird 2 / 2016

The Bookbird Hans Christian Andersen special issue is published biennially, early in the year in which the Awards are announced.

This issue is dedicated to the authors and illustrators who have been nominated for IBBY’s Hans Christian Andersen Award for their lasting contributions to children’s literature. It is an invaluable resource for anyone interested in international children’s books.

Each nominee is featured in a one-page article, accompanied by a mini-portrait and a selected bibliography. The two winners and the shortlisted candidates will be featured in issue 4 / 2016 of Bookbird with longer articles written by experts.

These special issues of Bookbird form an invaluable record of the most outstanding writers and illustrators internationally. They are essential for readers and researchers interested in discovering cultural and national trends and tastes in children’s books around the world.

Bookbird is the only children’s literature journal dedicated to featuring children’s books and children’s writers and illustrators from around the world in every issue. Whether you are engaged in research in children’s literature, lecture on it or teach it, work with children’s books in the classroom, recommend or buy books for schools or libraries, edit, publish or sell children’s books, write or illustrate books for children Bookbird has something to interest you.
