Theme: Reading promotion and animation in Africa today and tomorrow

Call for papers

1st January to 30th May 2015

Objectives

·      Reading promotion and animation in Africa today and tomorrow. Where do we stand today?

·      Exchange of experiences between the IBBY-Africa sections.

Themes

·      Literacy: access and teaching (literacy and literature) in your country

·      Literacy in a second language

·      Multilingualism and semilingualism in the schools

·      Reading promotion: A successful project in your country

·      Reading promotion in the digital world

Presentations on the themes of the conference should be no longer than ten-minutes.  Please send a one page abstract of your presentation.  The presentations and abstracts can be in English or French.

Please include: name and institution and a short CV of the author.

The abstracts will be distributed to all participants of the conference.

Delegates from the IBBY-Africa sections, IBBY International, IBBY Rwanda, representatives from the cultural sector in Rwanda and guests

Objectives

·       Reading promotion and reading culture in Africa today and tomorrow.

·       Exchange of experiences between the IBBY-Africa sections.

Organisation

·       Bakame Editions (IBBY Rwanda) will be the Secretariat for the conference organisation.

·       For all participants coming from outside Rwanda, accommodation will be organised from Wednesday, 23 September to Saturday, 26 September 2015 (3 nights) in the hotel Beauséjour.

·       Languages: English, French and Kinyarwanda

·       The media will be invited.

Costs

·       The organiser will cover the costs of the infrastructure during the conference.

·       All participants coming from outside Rwanda are requested to pay a registration fee of USD 100 each. The costs for the hotel (USD 70 per night) are to pay individually.

·       The organiser will cover the travel costs of the invited speakers.

·       All other participants must cover their own travel costs.
